"Jersey Shore" takes Italian Stereotypes to Italy

Remember, Jersey Shore is not about Italians, or Italian heritage. MTV said so, and millions of people believed it. Here are some of my favorite MTV and cast member quotes about the show:

“This show depicts just one aspect of youth culture.” 

"They refer to themselves as Guidos in a positive manner"

And then, they started filming in Italy- which Linda Stasi likened to the barbarian sacking of Rome. I couldn't agree more.

MTV is lying to us. That goes for people who dislike the show as well as people who enjoy it. They are talking down to us like we are fools, telling us one thing and doing another. When will the entire Italian American community realize that we are being taken advantage of?

More to the point, when will America wake up and realize that one of the biggest media outlets is stereotyping us? This isn't a Jersey Shore controversy- controversy implies that there is more than one side to the story. This is a Jersey Shore tragedy.
